Celebrating Artistic Talent: A Stunning Mural in Our New Manila Office

We are always proud to showcase the unique skills and creativity of our team members, and our newly opened office has become the perfect canvas to do just that. One of our talented employees, Jap Calalo, who’s a Bachelor of Fine Arts and majored in Painting, has transformed a blank wall into a vibrant visual journey connecting two iconic cities: Manila and London.

Jap’s work is a beautiful example of Spontaneous Realism and Expressionism, a style that combines imaginative representation with energetic, expressive brushwork. Over the course of five days, he brought this vision to life, turning a simple wall into a striking mural that captures the essence of both cities. The mural seamlessly fuses Manila’s unique architectural and buildings with  London historic charm, offering a visual dialogue between the two places.

The process was as fascinating as the result. Jap began by sketching out the basic composition, carefully planning how elements from each city would interact and complement one another. From Manila to the iconic Gherkin and Tower Bridge of London, every detail was thoughtfully placed to maintain a balance between realism and artistic interpretation. Using bold colours and dynamic brushstrokes, Jap infused each section with energy, capturing not just the appearance of these cities but their spirit.

What stands out in Jap’s mural is the spontaneity of his technique. Spontaneous Realism allows for freedom in form and colour, giving the piece a lively, almost pulsating energy. Expressionism, on the other hand, highlights the emotional impact, allowing Jap to convey his personal connection to these cities through texture, movement, and contrast. The result is a mural that feels alive, drawing viewers in and inviting them to explore every corner.

This project is more than just an aesthetic feature in our office; it’s a testament to our team’s talent and passion. Jap’s dedication, focus, and artistic vision transformed a blank wall into a landmark ,a daily reminder that creativity and innovation are central to everything we do at Workplace. It also reflects our commitment to celebrating individuality and nurturing diverse skills among staff.
