Twelve years ago, we faced a pivotal decision. UK employment costs were escalating, and the challenge was clear: either continue absorbing rising overheads or find a more strategic way to allocate resources. We knew standing still wasn't an option if we wanted to remain competitive, agile, and positioned for growth.
That turning point led us to Manila and it fundamentally changed the trajectory of our business.
The Reality Check
At first, it wasn't easy. Far from it. We encountered regulatory complexities, cultural differences, and the inevitable learning curve that comes with entering a new market. Early on, we underestimated the management investment required and set overly ambitious timelines. Recruitment decisions were sometimes costly, and we quickly learned that this was not a shortcut or a simple fix.
But those challenges became our foundation. Through persistence and experience, we developed systems that work. We built a local team, invested in infrastructure, and created strategies tailored to both the Philippine environment and our clients' expectations.
